Anonymous asked: You seem to be a pretty legit film fanatic so I was wondering what your opinions about the ASM are(If you've seen the trailer.) It seems a little too dark and I don't think Spider-man is particularly a dark character. I feel like they're trying to copy Nolan's Batman films with the whole dark tone thing and trying way too hard to be different from the Sam Raimi films. What do you think?

Well I’d say let’s not judge a film by it’s trailer. The Amazing Spider-Man’s trailer definitely focuses on the darker side of things but, having seen extra scenes and clips at Comic-Con, I can tell you that the film will have some lighter stuff as well. Keep in mind that this is directed by Marc Webb, who gave us 500 Days of Summer. He knows the balance between intense and lighthearted so I think it will be fine. As for copying Nolan’s Batman, I think it’s more about the treatment of Batman as a character and Gotham as a very unique “Dark City”. Spidey is a very All-American character who happens to have a far less intense (although similarly tragic) upbringing than Bruce Wayne does.
